MYTHS ON ACNE AND IT'S TREATMENT
Acne is not a disease perse, it's a condition and even the most healthy skin can break out anytime especially break out during menses and some hormonal issues, the only thing is if you use the right skincare and have a sound skincare sense, the break out won't be plenty and they can clear without serious dark spots.
MYTHS AND MISCONCEPTIONS ON ACNE
There are many misconceptions about acne floating around the internet and in real life too. You’ve heard plenty of stories about what causes acne, but how do you know if it’s true? We’re here to clear things up starting with debunking the top 12 acne myths.
1. ONLY TEENS GET ACNE
Acne is the most common skin disease. People of all races and ages get acne. 30% of adults, both men and women, experience acne. Although 85% of teens get some form of acne, they aren’t the only ones who can suffer from it.
2. YOU NEED TO WASH YOUR FACE MORE
Washing your face more often won’t cure your acne. Try to wash your face twice a day, but more than twice daily may do more harm than good. Washing your face is helpful to decrease the bacteria, but you shouldn’t overdo it.
3. IT’S OK TO POP YOUR PIMPLES SAFELY
This is never a good idea. Squeezing your pimples triggers inflammatory responses and can introduce even more bacteria to your zit. It also can cause acne scars which don’t go away. If extraction must be done, go to an expert, even your hands are often full of bacteria.
4. THE SUN AND TANNING BEDS CLEAR UP ACNE
Although it may feel like it’s drying your skin, the sun is not helpful in healing acne. The sun can inflame and dry your skin which causes your skin to produce more oil, ultimately making it worse.
5. TOOTHPASTE CAN CLEAR A PIMPLE Toothpaste and other household items are not entirely safe on your skin. The fluorides in many toothpastes can worsen acne. Option for a spot treatment (I will show us some) instead that contains "SALICYLIC ACID".
Your skin will thank you at the long run.
6. PORES OPEN AND CLOSE
Unfortunately, this isn’t the exact case.
Since pores don’t have muscles, they can’t open and close.
Steam can loosen the oils built up in pores and once clear, they can appear smaller.
7. DIRTY SKIN CAUSES ACNE
Acne isn’t caused by uncleanliness.
Washing your face twice a day with great cleansers is more than enough to remove bacteria and surface oil.
8. GREASY FOOD CAUSES ACNE
Chocolate, french fries and other junk food have little to no effect on acne.
There is no scientific evidence that these foods cause acne, but there are human differences, if you notice any of them to worsen your case, stay away but if not indulge all you want.
9.EXFOLIATE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
Scrubbing your face really hard doesn’t just wash acne away. If you end up scrubbing too hard, it can inflame your acne, making it even worse. It's funny how some people with acne thinks it's by scrubbing hard to remove them.
Please calm down!
10. ACNE ONLY AFFECTS PEOPLE WITH OILY SKIN
People with other skin types also suffer from acne.
All skin types can develop whiteheads, blackheads and pimples.
11. MAKEUP CAUSES ACNE
Makeup can irritate your skin if you’re using the wrong products.
Foundations that are nature based and lightweight won’t cause any issues.
Don’t forget to wash your face before bed to remove any makeup and oil.
12. ACNE WILL GO AWAY SO YOU DON’T NEED TO TREAT IT
Acne can be chronic, meaning it can last a long time. It’s a condition which means it exists on your skin beneath the surface.
You should always be concerned with managing your acne, and we can help.

Now you have a clear understanding on the physiology of acne break outs, the types of acne, why pimples must be carefully treated.
I'll furthermore discuss on "Salicylic Acid" as I said earlier.
SALICYLIC ACID:
This is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA),a type of acid derived from natural resources such as willow, tree bark, wintergreen leaves or sweet birch bark.
This is how salicylic acid works its magic on your skin:
SOFTENS THE “GLUE” BETWEEN SKIN CELLS: First of all, it softens and dissolves the intercellular cement material, which is the substance that causes skin cells to stick together.
EXFOLIATES THE SKIN SURFACE:
Immediately these connections are weakened, dead skin cells become loosened and are easily sloughed off the skin surface ridding skin of them to keep skin clean and optimized.
DEEP-CLEANS PORES:
This is because it's an oil-soluble acid, it has the ability to penetrate deep into pores. There, it exfoliates the pore lining, cleans out clogged sebum and allows oil to flow out more freely.
SUPPRESSES EXCESS OIL PRODUCTION:
It also keeps oily skin in check by both dissolving oil and suppressing the cells that produce excess sebum once the required level is reached.
REDUCES INFLAMMATION:
It has an anti-inflammatory effect.
So it calms the skin, reduces redness and minimizes swelling.
This is a must have in skincare for acne
Less I forget remember that other body care items you use around your face affects your skin which causes acne.
Our major culprit are hair products like relaxer and hair cream, they may be perfect for your hair but too harsh on skin especially the forehead region, so always wipe your forehead after hair creaming or saloon sessions.
